Tech Giants

As i sit here procrastinating on my coputer science homework this carreer path i am taking forces me to reflect on the power the tech companies, I some day want to work for, have. The declaration of indepence marked the begining of american capitalism and a freedom from a tyranical ruler. This led to the creation of natural rights for man with “universal” equality. Though are we truly equal?. These powerful tech giants and their founders seem to be untouchable, maybe even superior with the way they manipulate the markets and their consumers in order to make a profit. Should these tech giants be heavily regulated?

  1. I believe most giant conglomerates and companies should be much more strictly regulated. Many of them can get away with really messed up stuff simply because no one wants to go up against them. Just look at the massive waste many industries, such as the food industry, fashion industry and retail industry just to name a few, produce. Companies are the cause of so much of are waste, yet they get away with it because of loose regulations. So not only should tech companies be regulated more strictly, but other company giants as well.

  2. Hello Andrew, I understand your point of view. It is true that often times tech industries become massive and powerful, and many times even become monopolies. Take for example Google, Netflix, Microsoft, and Facebook, all companies that are in the path of monopolizing. While it is true that the Constitution remarked all men to be created equal, this remain true across the board. The CEO’s of these companies were once normal citizens just like any of us are, eventually through hard work were later able to become so successful. We have the chance of following their example and creating something great. In the aspect of needing more regulation between customers and industries, I do agree there must be a regulator that oversees and advocates for justice when this one is needed.
