Welcome to Nihontopia, a website dedicated to sharing Japanese culture through the topic of travel. The name Nihontopia, is a combination of the Japanese word “Nihon,” meaning Japan, and –topia, an affix derived from the Greek word topos, meaning place. Nihontopia aims to be the place travelers go to find comprehensive travel itineraries to follow or use as inspiration when planning to travel in Japan. Featuring information about famous destinations, hidden gems, restaurants, accommodations, transportations directions and more, Nihontopia’s guides will help you get around the country.
My name is Aaron, the creator of Nihontopia. I have been studying Japan and Japanese culture since I was eight years old when I was first exposed to Japanese culture through a neighborhood friend who had just moved from Japan. My love for the culture was strong from the beginning, and I have continued to study Japan and Japanese culture in some capacity ever since. I have also had the privilege of traveling to three of the major islands of Japan, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu, though I someday hope to travel to Hokkaido, particularly during the winter time so that I can attend the Sapporo snow festival.
