This interview was conducted with Aurora P. Alvarez, a woman who has lived and worked in San Ysidro for 28 years. The interview took place in her office at the San Ysidro Community and Recreation Center. We discussed life at the U.S Mexico border, how youth program help address community challenges like crime, perspectives on immigration and the proposed border-wall, civic engagement, the relationship between San Ysidro and the rest of San Diego, CA, access to housing, and access to green spaces. Aurora has worked at Casa Familiar for a long time and holds extensive knowledge on the programs that the non-profit has led over the years. She is currently working with the parents group.
