Lunch and learn: Alternative practices for feedback on students writing — Thursday, Feb. 23 Lunch and learn on student writing: Alternative practices for feedback on students writing-- Tuesday, Feb. 23th, 12:30 pm We’ve all had the frustration: you spend hours and hours (and hours) writing feedback on students’ drafts, only to find that when the revised products come in, little of that feedback has been put into action by the student writers. Some of us have abandoned substantive writing assignments altogether, finding it too time-consuming, and at times too disheartening, to justify the effort. Can responding to student writing be made (at least) less onerous, and (at best) more effective in producing positive change in students’ writing? Join this discussion with the Director of the Writing Hub, Matt Nelson, who will share alternative practices for responding to student writing. Topics will include how to turn feedback into a conversation rather than a monologue, and how to provide more personalized feedback through screen-casting. RSVP below—or just show up! We’ll be happy to have you!
