Mini-abstract: My project examines a primary source from the Special Collections & University Archives, which is composed of two report cards from African-American students. My thesis asserts that early African-American history, although marked by specific obstacles and roadblocks, exemplifies strength and agency, as can be seen in the way the two young women interacted with their local community, in addition to the Woodsonians and other trailblazers.
