Case Studies: Psycholinguistics

These two case studies focus on two iterations of an upper-division undergraduate psycholinguistics course (LIGN 170: Psycholinguistics). This course is an elective course with only one prerequisite – LIGN 101: Introduction to the Study of Language.

Case Study 1: Language Diversity

This iteration of the course was taught by Catherine Arnett in Summer 2023. The case study summarizes how the course was designed to incorporate examples from a variety of languages (spoken and signed).

Case Study 2: Research Bias

This iteration of the course was taught by Ebru Evcen in Summer 2024. The case study summarizes two course modules that focused on two major challenges in the field – WEIRD bias and native speakerism.
