Here are a couple frequently asked questions and answers for anyone who’s curious!
What is Legacies?
Legacies is a small team based in San Diego that works to capture the stories of Asian American creators.
What kind of project is this? / What is a zine?
This a non-profit, for charity, and student-run passion project! We, the organizers, receive no money or profits and everyone in this project is kindly donating their time!!
At the end of the production cycle, we aim to put forth a zine, or community-based magazine, that highlights the experiences of API celebration and identity. Our zine will be a compilation of both artwork and written works from independent API creators.
What are the goals of this Legacies project?
– To give our API stories a home—a place where we can celebrate our culture and what makes us, us.
– Utilize environmentally friendly materials during the production and shipping of the anthology.
– Produce and give a copy of the anthology to all our creators, as compensation for their hard work and time, and as appreciation for their wonderful contribution to this project.
What is the theme?
Celebration! We are looking for stories from Asian and Pacific Islanders celebrating what makes us as API or what we celebrate as API.
It could be as big as special holidays, coming-of-age ceremonies, festivals, or even weddings!
Or as small as the memory of your favorite foods, traditions, and places. As long as it ties to celebrating and you as part of the API community!!
