3D Scanning Roman Coins

3D Scanning Roman Coins

Last year we took a up a photometry collaboration with our Digital Library Development Program and Dr. Watts from the UCSD History dept.   We took hundreds of  super high quality 50 mp photos of Roman coins, some were almost 2,000 years old. The coins were so small that each photo seemed like we were looking at it under a microscope. We’ve just finished reconstructing and uploading the coins thanks to the tireless efforts of our DML Assistant Janice.

The entire collection can be viewed here, metadata is still to come.
