She explores her upbringing, professional pursuits, personal life, and her academic experience, and identifies the ways it is intersectional with being a first-generation college student. Advice for future first-generation students is also included in the interview. This interview and her story cover a broad range of topics including imposter syndrome, survivor’s guilt in terms of social mobility, and overcoming the adversities that come with being first-generation. The interview was conducted via Zoom in order to practice social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. The interview was conducted by Gabrielle Miner, a second-year History major at UCSD who is interested in pursuing a career in museum curation.
