Eduardo Aguilar is a Mexican-American professor at MiraCosta College in Oceanside, California. He was born and raised in Mexico, and also grew up in Encinitas and Oceanside after coming to the United States. During the interview, Eduardo speaks about his childhood and educational experience through high school and his time at MiraCosta College. He discusses in detail his involvement in activist groups at MiraCosta when he attended as a student. Eduardo also talks about the history and creation of such organizations as an important foundation of these groups’ goals and mission. This interview covers topics such as activism, Chicano/Chicana rights, the student organization M.E.Ch.A., and the conferences that took place that led to the creation of these student organizations. Eduardo was introduced to the ROHP by Olivia Quintanilla, the chair of MiraCosta’s Ethnic Studies department, and the interview was conducted via Zoom. The interview was conducted by Brandon Hill, a third year student at UC San Diego.
