ETHN synopsis

Dulce Gutierrez is a young woman working part-time here at Barrio Logan College Institute, BLCI, as an elementary program teacher. She is from a family where her parents don’t have very fluent English. She wishes herself would had the change to join the Blci when she was at her younger age. Aside from her teacher’s identity, she is also a college associate, she will pursue a bachelor’s degree in children’s education in her future career path. In this interview, Dulce talked about her life experience, how BLCI changed the community here, and reason she would recommend BLCI to other student and parents. I met the interviewee while I was volunteering at BLCI, I helped as a teaching assistant at her elementary class during the volunteer. The interview was conducted in person at the BLCI site, by Xinqing Zheng, a fourth-year Economics major student at UCSD who is interested in how English as a second language people interacted with American culture.
