I had the great pleasure to interview Akon Thon, Whose pronouns are she, her. Ms.Thonis from Sudan and moved to San Diego when she was age ten. Her career goal is to become a police officer, therefore she studied criminal justice in a college located in the Northern part of California. The Current Pandemic brought her back to San Diego, to live more closely with her family, and she is now a member of the Southern Sudanese Community Center. This interview covers topics such as immigration, Sudan culture, and the volunteer works done by the Southern Sudanese Community Center.
The interview was conducted via Zoom to keep social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. This interview was conducted by Yuichiro Tanaka, a UCSD undergraduate majoring in visual arts, studio.
