What advice would you give to transfers who are currently at community college?
Keep working hard, keep your grades up, and be nice to your professors. Go to any PATH events you can because we’d love to meet you! Ask for help if you need it, and enjoy community college while you can.
What was your biggest fear about transferring to UC San Diego?
I was worried about adjusting to the quarter system and not being able to meet the expectations I had for myself.
What part of your transition was most difficult?
Time management and knowing what my priorities are in terms of a school, work, life balance.
Why choose the PATH Program?
The community it builds for arts and humanities students is incredible, the summer program was so much fun, and the stipend was nice.
How has the PATH program helped you?
I really know the campus now, I have a fully grasp of the resources available on campus, I have a community of peers that I can relate to and see around campus, I’ve been presented so many incredible opportunities that I wouldn’t have had on any other campus, and I could go on.
What was the most difficult part of the PATH Program for you?
Getting lost a thousand times before I started to figure out where things were.
What UC San Diego resources do you find yourself using the most?
All of the library resources, especially getting help from the lovely librarians. But I still need to visit the Therapy Fluffies at the Zone.
What tips would you give future students about the UC San Diego campus?
The campus is HUUUGE compared to the community colleges ESPECIALLY Miramar. You’ll probably miss it when you’re lost here. But once you get the hang of it during the summer program (wink wink) navigating will be easy breezy.
